The folks at HSJC have had another great weekend! It started with the Grand Opening of ReTail, HSJC’s new thrift store, on Saturday. There are so many great items! It was really busy all day and we even had to reopen the store because a young girl wanted to spend her birthday money.  How could we say “no” to that? I walked out with a few items: a big Gund stuffed Frog, a Christmas book, Hula girl outfit, and a brand new box of Valentines cards. I had my eye on a few other things, but waited until the end of the day and luckily, they had been purchased by someone else. If you missed out on the Grand Opening, stop by during store hours to check it out. They are open Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 – 3:00 and Friday and Saturday 10:00 – 5:00. They get new stuff all the time!

Then on Sunday, we wrapped up the weekend with a “Howl-O-Ween” Party at the Birdhouse Gallery and Studio. This was a donor event hosted by Roxane and Brent Rose and Brian (my husband) and I. Linda Griffiths had the Birdhouse fabulously decorated and we supplied the food with the help of our wonderful guests. There were about 20 people there and a bunch of dogs running around. Some of the dogs were dressed in costumes and for the most part, they all got along.  There were plenty of trash cans for them to sniff and lots of room for them to run! It was successful in terms of the shelter too - $140 donated and one offer of a donor event!

We are still looking for a donor event in December. Not much is lined up as far as fundraisers for December. I know lots of you are already having Holiday parties and it would be easy to make those parties into fundraising parties. Just send me an email and we can get started planning!

Shelby Vaughan, the cutest little cave girl that came to the Howl-O-Ween Party!
